Do you have to be in really good shape before you join?
Fit Camp does recommend that you have been “active” over the last 2-3 months before partaking in this fitness camp. “Active” meaning you have been engaging in light exercise 3/week for at least 30 minutes. For example: walking or biking. You must also not be suffering from any impairments or disabilities that could limit you from doing Fit Camp. Due to the fact that you will be partaking in a variety of activities it is best that you have this exercise history under your belt. (Personal Fitness Coaching with Wendy may be more appropriate for some people just starting out) That being said -you do not have to be super fit to join! No one will be asked to complete more than they are capable of doing safely. Fit Camp will leave you in better shape than when you joined! All fitness levels are welcome and accommodated for at Fit Camp! I choose only the safest exercises that can accommodate all levels.
What does a typical session include?
Each session starts with a dynamic motivating warm up, followed by the main activity for that session ( A Themed workout featuring Cardio, Strength , Core exercises – best for results!) followed by a cool down and *stretch to finish! Each day varies and you will be introduced to a number of different activities. You need to be open to trying anything!! **Sessions are 45-60 min long. Handouts/E-mails may be provided to guide you in making healthy food choices and lifestyle decisions. More guidance is offered on my website/blog and my Facebook Page/Group too!!
I do not like to run. Does this program involve a lot of running?
No. Not at this time.
What kind of activities will I be expected to do?
Some of the Activities will be:
Variety is the key!! This program is diverse and I incorporate a variety of formats, themes and exercises to keep the session fresh, interesting and challenging!
Bodyweight now only. Bands may be used/signed out at a later date.
**Resistance Training with Medicine Balls, Free Weights, Kettlebells, Body Bars, Super bands, Balls and more…(don’t forget just your own body weight!)
**Metabolic (Cardio) Interval Conditioning may use the following equipment: Track, Steps, Skipping Ropes, Kettlebells, and of course just your own body weight!
Proper Core Training is integrated into each Fit Camp session! NO Sit ups/ Crunches. (Science shows this is hard on our spines/neck. Why do them- there are so many other options!)
How many people are in each Fit Camp?
Fit Camp is purposely held in a smaller group/team atmosphere.( 6-18approx.) That way you will get individual attention and coaching, along with group support and begin to build some rapport with other group members.
Are the classes always held indoors?
Yes- for now until further notice
*No. Fit Camp will also include outdoor fitness exercise, as much as possible and only on the mild days! Be prepared to go outside each workout! For January Fit Camps- All workouts will be indoors! In the Spring/Summer and Fall -Fit Camp will be using the outdoor track -weather permitting of course! Indoor sessions will take advantage of our wide-open field house.
Sessions may be cancelled due to weather or lack of facility (Gagetown Fitness Center -only happens when facility has full bookings for military requirements/or emergencies-very rare). Any sessions cancelled will be added on at the end of that current Fit Camp if possible!
